UNLV Chemistry Building
It’s pretty cool to be first, especially first when it comes to Architecture! Our very own Robert Fielden was the project architect on the UNLV chemistry building that won the first A.I.A. award in Nevada state history!
What is an A.I.A. award? Well, in their own words…”AIA recognizes and celebrates the best buildings and spaces, and the people behind them, with some of the most prestigious awards in the built environment.
Through more than thirty programs, AIA Honors & Awards highlights best practices and recognize exemplary projects, engages and supports members in the diverse practice of the profession, and opens opportunities to collaborate among peers and colleagues in the built environment.”
In 1971 the Chemistry Building at UNLV was awarded an A.I.A. award and was one of only three structures out of 50 to receive one. Architects from six states-Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico all submitted their finest building projects with a Robert led team winning the honor.
